SENATOR THREATENED
BOMB HINTS IN LETTER FROM UNIONISTS STIR IN AUSTRALIA United P.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.35 a.m. CANBERRA, Today. Threats of physical violence and bombs, which were contained in anonymous letters written to a member of the Opposition have caused a stir in the Senate. Sir George Pearce, Leader of the Opposition, while speaking on the waterside dispute concerning pick-up places, mentioned that such threats had been made to a certain member of the Opposition who was solemnly warned not to thwart the unionists’ plans. But, Senator Pearce added, members of the Opposition were not going to be deterred from doing what they regarded as a public duty.
