COAL BILL CHOPPED
LORDS AMEND OUTPUT AND QUOTA CLAUSES LEVIES PROVISION OUT LONDON, Tuesday. The House of Lords, by 134 votes to 4S today carried an amendment to a clause in the Coal Mines Bill limitinc district outputs. The House rejected by 82 votes to °5 an amendment to the Bill moved bv Lord Gainford and accepted by Lord Thomson, Secretary of State for air to reinstate a provision deleted fromHhe Bill by the House of Commons for raising a central levy in order to facilitate the sale of any class of C °Lord Melchett's amendment providing that in cases where a colliery is in the hands of some manufacturing undertaking using the output of coal in its own works, the coal should not be included in the quota, was carried by 105 votes to 13. . A clause to give power to raise district levies was omitted without division.
