LIVELY NIGHT SOCCER
LABURNUM TOO GOOD FOR VERONICA GAME AT BLANDFORD PARK The first night Soccer match of the season was played at Blandford Park last evening, when H.M.S. Laburnum beat H.M.S. Veronica by four to one. The improved lighting of the ground was very favourably commented upon by a good crowd of spectators.
Play opened up at a great pace, fas dashes by both sides rousing the enthusiasm of the spectators. Nichols goaled twice running tor Laburnum and near the end of the spell a mistake by the Veronica goalkeeper let Laburnum in again. At half time Laburnum led 3—o.
The second spell was more even, Veronica making strong efforts to reduce Laburnum’s big lead. However, Nichols and Page were instrumental in giving Laburnum its fourth goal. Veronica, playing only nine men at the finish, made a splendid rally and Rogers scored. The game ended in a win for Laburnum by four goals to one.
