AWAPUNI NOTES
MISTER GAMP LOOKS WELL Special to THE SUN PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. -The report that Coon Song had broken down, the black gelding strikingly refuted when he slipped over five furlongs in 1.5 at Awapuni on Tuesday morning. Arrowhead is rapidly assuming racing shape again. In company with Great Lady the Arrowsmith gelding was first home at the end of five furlongs, run in 1.5 1-5. Hymestrason, who is due to make his debut as a ’chaser at Wanganui next week, was sent a couple of rounds over the big fences, being ridden by C. Robinson. The Hymestrayson gelding gave quite a promising display. Skyrider and Four Aces, both of whom claim engagements in the Ivaitoke Hack Hurdles at Wanganui, were companions in a gallop over six furlongs, which was completed in 1.20 1-5, both having fair weights in the saddle. Mister* Gamp’s owner was not enamoured of the weight allocated the chestnut gelding at 1-lawera and withdrew him, but the Bronzeth gelding will race at Wanganui. Although he looks very well, no doubt he will require a few hard races to wind him up for the Great Northern Hurdles.
