Raid on Commons
RUSH BY HUNGER-MARCHERS Thrown Out by the Police LOCKED THEMSELVES IN WHITEHALL FAILING to secure an interview with the British Prime I Minister. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, a lartre party of unemployed hunger marchers raided the House of Commons and were ejected by the scruff of the neck by a body of police. Another party of rioters locked themselves in a room at Whitehall, and were routed by the police, who broke iu the door.

Late this afternoon and after the failure to secuer an interview with Mr. MacDonald, a body of hunger marchers assembled at the members’ entrance to the House of Commons. They were escorted by a large body of mounted and foot police. While those in the courtyard sang the “Red Flag,” 20 of the leaders entered the House, allegedly for the purpose of interviewing their memebers.
While the conversation and interviews were proceeding, about a dozen
men raised a sudden shout and rushed down the central hall to the inner lobby.
The police stopped the rush, and alter a few minutes’ scuffle the members of the party were ignominously run out of the building, the police holding them by the scruff of their necks. Eight of them were arrested. Another party outwitted the police at Whitehall and managed to get in to the Ministry of Health, where they locked themselves in a room, shouting and creating a disturbance, until the police broke in and ejected them after a short struggle.
