FUTURE OF NATIONAL PARK

ARTHUR’S PASS PROGRESS Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHtmCH, Today. The prediction is made by the Arthur’s Pass National Park Board that Arthur’s Pass National Park will become the most widely used resort of its kind in New Zealand. The board has been in existence for seven months, and has been using grants in development work in the area. The Railway Department lias done much to make the area better known, and the board points to the ease of access to the park as an advantage in catering for visitors. The Canterbury Mountaineering and Tramping Club and the Christchurch Ski Club are connected with the promotion of alpine sports, and the former club has already built a hut. Good ski-ing grounds are said to be available. The greatest need at the park is considered to be a modern accommodation house. Interesting flora abounds in the area, but a good deal of damage is reported to have* been done by deer.
