ST. JAMES

“GOLD DIGGERS OF BROADWAY” “Gold Diggers of Broadway,” the wonderfully-coloured Warner Brothers’ and Vitaphon© all-talking production now at St. James Theatre, gives no indication of waning in popularity as the season advances, over 130,000 people having already attended. The whole film is a glittering spectacle and is probably one of the most spectacular, colourful and melodic representations of Broadway theatre life that has ever been brought to the screen. The cast includes Winnie Lightner, Conway Tearle, Nick Lucas, the singer of “Tip-Toe Through the Tulips” and “Painting the Clouds,” and Helen Foster. There is an excellent programme of supporting pictures and music, which includes an overture, “Orpheus” (Offenbach), by the Vitaphone Symphony Orchestra, and a clever Yiddish comedy. DIXIELAND CABARET Dancing will be enjoyed again this evening at the luxurious Dixieland Cabaret, when the usual Saturday evening carnival will be held. All the latest and brightest jazz music will be played by the famous Dixieland Dance Band.
