When Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer brought Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy into “M.-G.-M.’s Hollywood Revue” for a comedy act, they disrupted the entire sound department. The popular comedians began slamming each other around, crashing glassware, breaking furniture and starting a young riot. When it was over, a haggard technician staggerd on to the set. “They broke every light valve in the works.” he gasped, “Bring on your high sopranos!”
William Powell, who created the role of Philo Vance in Paramount’s “The Canary Murder Ca.seV and “The Greene Murder Case.” will bring that famous character to life once more. Following the completion of his initial .starring role hi “The Street of Chance,” Powell will be starred in “The Benson Murder Case.” the last of Van Bine’s famous mysteries. E. H. Calvert and Eugene Pallette will again play their prominent characterisations.
