TRANSPORT VACANCY

FOLL IS BEING HELD TODAY RESULT AT 7 O’CLOCK The first by-election in connection with the Auckland Transport Board is being held today. Polling is for the purpose of filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. F. S. Morton, who has gone to South Africa on a health-recruiting trip. The candidates are Mr. R. G. Clark, Mr. E. Morton and Mr. G. E. Tansley. Voting began at 9 a.m. and ceases at G p.m. The returning officer, Mr. W. St. J. Clarke, secretary to the Transport Board, expects to be able to announce the result shortly before 7 o’clock. Voting took place in the No. 3 transport area, which comprises the districts of Onehunga, Mount Roskiil, One Tree Hill, Mount Wellington, Ellerslie and Panmure.
