TARNDALE WINS AGAIN BIG RACE TO ERIN’S FORTUNE Special to THE SUN INVERCARGILL, Saturday, Favoured with beautiful weather today, the Winton Trotting Club held a most successful fixture, whch was attended by a large crowd of interested spectators. The racing was of a. high ordeu*, and some good prices were returned in the big fields. Gore form proved a fairly good guide for backers, and the winners of the ‘‘double,** Erin’s Fortune and Tarndale, both, scored on Boxing Day. The Auckland-owned Chrystal, who showed g, good turn of speed at Gore and looked a winner till he left hli feet, made amends today, when the grey gelding won the Stewards* Handicap in fine style. Speculation was brisk, the sum of £12,558 being put through tho machine, which showed a slight decrease on last; year’s figures, when £12,906 was recorded.
