BISHOP CLEARY’S HEALTH

PEOPLE’S PRAYERS ASKED CLERGY AT BEDSIDE A bulletin issued upon the healtlf of Bishop Cleary this afternoon announces his condition to be dangerous. Congregations in all Catl.olio churches in the Auckland Dioyese were asked yesterday to pray for his spiritual and temporal welfare. During the day a very large number of people of all denominations ca lled at the Mater Mlsericordiae Hospital and made anxious inquiries about the condition of the patient. Last evening the Catholic clergy of the city and suburbs, and many from the country, who had travelled long distances after their Sunday duties had concluded, gathered around Dr. Cleary’s bedside, and led by Bishop Liston, joined in fervent prayers for the Bishop, whose strength was failing.
