SCIENTIST’S TRAGIC DEATH.— Captain J. P. Ault, a marine scientist of the highest repute, who had commanded the American yacht Carnegie since she was launched 20 years ago, was killed in the explosion which destroyed the vessel in Apia Harbour last Friday. Captain Ault, who was reading on deck, was blown into the sea and died of shock. The cabin-boy was burned to death and several of the crew injured.
