SEAMAN WHO REFUSED TO SAIL WOULD NOT PAY BAIL Inquiries are to be made to see what can be done with Richard John Walsh, a member of the Malolo’s crew, who was charged at the Police Court this morning with drunkenness, having refused to sail on the vessel. •YArALSH Pleaded guilty to being VV found drunk in the railway entrance yesterday afternoon. SubInspector McCarthy said the man had refused to sail on the ship or to find bail, and so had had to be locked up. He had missed <his ship and had no money. Walsh was fined ss, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment, and was ordered to pay for the cab which had taken him to the station, 2s 6d. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., directed that the police make inquiries to see what could be done with the man. COOK FORFEITS BAIL Henry Busson, a French cook aged 65, also of the Malolo, was charged with being disorderly while drunk in the railway entrance yesterday. He had found bail, which he forfeited in the Police Court this morning, having sailed on the ship last evening. Busson was arrested by Constable Collins at 4.45 p.m. yesterday and bailed out three hours later just before the ship sailed. The constable said this morning that Busson had been fighting another man and made such a nuisance of himself that he had to be locked up.
