THAMES IN FLOOD

LARGE AREAS UNDER WATER IN ENGLAND

COUNTRYSIDE ALTERED British Official Wireless RUGBY, Sunday. Tlie upper reaches of the Thames are in many places in a state of flood, and the river is steadily rising. In the past 48 hours there has been a rise of 16in near Windsor. Serious floods have developed in the Midlands, and wide areas are under water in the south-east of England. The flood has so altered the countryside as viewed from the air that the pilot of an air liner yesterday from Cologne failed to pick up the familiar marks, and had to steer a course by compass to Croydon. In London, which has suffered much less severely than other parts of the country, a rainfall of over sin was registered in November. The normal November rainfall is 2.22 in.
