SATIN AND LACE

BLOXHAM—BURKETT A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Taumarunui, when Evelyn Mary, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Burkett, of Taumarunui, became the wife of Mr. Eric Bloxham, of Taranaki. The church was beautifully decorated, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Brady. The bride was given away E>y her father, and wore a lovely gown of pale pink georgette mounted on satin. The skirt was of Chantilly lace with the popular uneven hemline, and was daintily trimmed with tiny frills of georgette. The bridal veil was of pale .pink tulle, artistically embroidered, and was worn with a circlet and side clusters of orange blossom buds. A shower bouquet of pale pink roses, carnations and maidenhair fern, arranged with tulle and satin streamers, completed a really charming toilette. Two bridesmaids were in attendance, tlie Misses J. and 11. Burkett, sisters of the bride, one wearing a smart frock of lemon georgette over self-toned satin and appliqued in lemon and green; the other in a delightful dress of delphinium blue georgette with shaded lace over blue satin. Both frocks were made with the dipping hemline, and were worn with wide picture hats of matching shades. Bouquets of pale yellow roses and blue irises respectively completed the charming colour scheme. Mr. Sherlock, of AVellington. was best man, and Mr. L. Burkett, of Taumarunui, groomsman.

A reception was held later at the Theatre Royal Annexe, the wedding breakfast being followed by a social and dance. To receive her numerous guests Mrs. Burkett wore a smart frock of navy crepe de chine relieved with green, and a hat of the same shades. She carried a bouquet of heliotrope flowers. The decorative scheme of the large room had been carried out very effectively in pink and green. The customary toasts were honoured, leather Brady presiding.

Mr. and Mrs. Bloxham left later to spend their honeymoon in the South Island, the bride wearing a travelling dress of mole silk and wool charmelaine, worn with a chic hat, a smartlytailored tweed coat and fox furs.
