McCullough, in presenting Mr. Rowell with a silver inkstand, office clock and desk calendar, expressed regret at the departure of such a popular bowler. The regret was brightened by the fact that the severance was promotion, and he felt sure that Mr. Rowell would be just as popular with the bowlers of Otahuhu as he had been at Thames. Mr. Rowell in responding said his stay at Thames had been a short happy one, and he was extremely sorry to leave such genial company as he found the Thames bowlers to be.
