CAR COMPLETELY WRECKED
CRASHES INTO TELEGRAPH POLE
DRIVER SUFFERS INJURIES Injuries to his head and fractured ribs were suffered by Mr. H. C Berridge, aged 28, of 2 Arthur Street, Ponsonby, as the result of liis motorcar crashing into a telegraph pole on the Great South Road at Takanini at about 7.15 last evening. Mr. Berridge, accompanied by Mr. J. Roberts, of 59 Hepburn Street, Ponsonby, was returning from Tuakau when the front tyre of the motor-car burst, with the result that the vehicle ran ofE the road, and after failing into a ditch, crashed into a telegraph pole. Mr. Berridge was pinned between the side of the car and the pole, his head being injured by the shattered windscreen and his body by the weight of the car. His companion escaped With minor cuts and bruises. The injured man was removed to l A ho t, A V c “ land Hospital by the St.John Ambulance. His condition is said to be not serious. The motor-car was wrecked. ''
