PAPAKURA PRESBYTERIANS
The annual meeting: of the Papakura Presbyterian Church was held on Monday evening - , when there was a good attendance of members. The Rev. T. H. Roseveare, interim moderator, presided. The session report presented by Mr. J. R. Wilson, session clerk, stated that ten meetings had been held, Communion had been celebrated on four occasions, 11 members had joined the church, and the Communion roll stood at 127.
The Sunday school report showed the work to be steadily increasing under the superintendence of Mr. Chas. Garlick. The school had raised £25 for missions besides raising £137 and a credit balance remains of £4 14s 4d. The Bible class under Miss Grace Stewart and Mr. Royston Garlick held regular meetings and raised £l4 for various missions. The P.W.M.U. worked solely for the church’s mission schemes and raised £24.
The church was looking forward to the coming of the new minster, the Rev. J. H. Bredin. The manager’s report by Mr. A. Hammond, stated that the grounds had been kept in good order. The financial statement showed a total revenue of £555 9s 3d, which included £9 16s lOd for the budget, £5 for the P.S.S.A., £7 18s 6d for the China Famine Fund, £24 7s 6d from the P.YY.M.TJ., and £25 from the Sunday school, which added £l4 5s 3d from the combined Bible classes made a total of £B6 8s Id, and the various missions from the whole church. There was a small debit balance on the 16 months’ work. The report of the tennis club stated that one court was almost ready and two others in course of construction.
