FEW DAYS IN AUCKLAND
OPENING OF THE MUSEUM Yesterday tije Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, and the Lady Alice arrived in Auckland by the Rotorua' express after a farewell visit to the thermal regions. They will be in residence at Government House until Sunday evening, when they will leave by the Limited for Hamilton. They will return here on December 30 for a week before going South. Ou February 1 they will leave for England. Captain E. B. Boyle, military and private secretary to his Excellency, arrived by the Limited from Wellington yesterday, and Captain Orr-Ew-ing, aide-de-camp, was one of the party from Rotorua. Today the Governor-General will preside at the annual communications of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand, of which he is grand master, and this evening he will hand over his office to his successor. The opening of the War Memorial Museum will be performed tomorrow, and on Friday the Governor-General will attend the Maori ceremony in the Museum, later addressing the Auckland Rotary Club at a luncheon in the Lewis Eady Hall. On Saturday the ships’ companies of the warships in port will be inspected. Other engagements include the unveiling of memorials at the Pukekohe East Presbyterian Church ou Sunday afternoon. A deputation is to be received from the Auckland Presbytery. From Hamilton his Excellency will go to Palmerston North, Invercargill (for the Royal Show), Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru, returning to Wellington on December 21, where he will stay until coming back to Auckland at the end of the month.
