“TO MY WIDOW”

A hitherto unpublished letter from j Captain Scott, addressed “To My j Widow,” is included in a life of the : explorer by Stephen Gwynn, published by John Lane. The letter, which was written when Captain Scott was awaiting death, said: “If anything happens to me, I should like you to know how much you have meant to me, and what pleasant recollections go with me as I depart. I want you to take the whole thing sensibly, as I am sure you will. The boy will be your comfort. “You know I cherish no sentimental i rubbish about remarriage. When the light man comes to help you ill life, you ought to be your own happy seif i again.” Captain Scott’s widow is now Lady j Hilton Young. She married again : in 1922.
