PICTURES AT ONEHUNGA
This evening the Strand Theatre in Onehunga will present a first-class talkie programme, of which the chief attraction will be ’ The Singing Fool.” This is the great all-talking and singing production by that clever entertainer A! Jolson. and tells the pathetic story of a cabaret singer's rise to fame onlv to lose his wife and little boy. The film introduced the already popular melodies, “Sonny Boy,” “There’s a Rainbow Round My Shoulder,” and “It All Depends of You.” At the Foresters’ I-lall in Onehunga a fine film entertainment will be screened, comprising full supporting programme, also “Scandal,” a powerful society drama with a background of Santa Barbara and other beautiful Californian resorts. Laura La Plante is the star. Preparation is to start shortly on “Sarah and Son.*’ a new Paramount talkie, starring Ruth Chatterton. Zoe Atkins, famous New York playwright, has been recruited to the Paramount . writing staff for the adaptation. None ! of the supporting cast has been i selected as yet. I
