DROWNING GIRL SAVED
YOUNG MEN SWIM THROUGH UNDERTOW REACH BEACH EXHAUSTED Press Association DUNEDIN Today. A young woman named Calder, a nurse, had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at St. Clair Beach. A hundred yards out she was seen to throw her arms up, signalling for help. Richard Coxon swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow, and Ivan Turnbull swam to his assistance with a life-line against a strong current, and the three got ashore exhausted.
