NO OIL DRILLING
ON PRINCE’S CANADIAN RANCH GOVERNMENT’S EDICT “No mineral and petroleum rights 'will be granted on the Prince of Wales’s ranch at High River by order of the Department of the Interior.” Professor W. L. Carlyle, manager of the ranch, made this statement when interviewed in regard to reports emanating from London, to the effect that rich oil discoveries have been made on the ranch. Professor Carlyle explained that the petroleum rights on the Prince's ranch are held in reserve until further notice. Prior to this order, a certain part of the ranch was filed on by two applicants, but no drilling will be permitted except by permission of the-Minister of the Interior. Henceforth no applications for petroleum and natural gas rights on the property will be received. At present no wells are being drilled on the ranch. The nearest wells actually being drilled in the vicinity are the Nordon, half a mile away, and Warner No. 2, and the Inperial Highwood, from five to eight miles away.
