CAPITOL, DOMINION ROAD
“THE RAINBOW MAN’’ An enjoyable singing and talking production entitled “The Rainbow Man” will be presented •at the Capitol Theatre, this evening. Edward Dowling, the Broadway musical comedy star, heads the cast. Critics have everywhere been warm in their praise of the simplicity of this first Eddie Dowling singing^peture. It is one of the first musical sound films to break into fame without the aid of jazz. Dowling’s picture has a moving, human plot. The hero is a small-time actor, and he continues to be one throughout the film. The production marks a new step in the progress of talking films. It is filled with true heart interest, comedy and action, bringing three personages to undisputed prominence in the realm of sound—Eddie Dowling, Marian Nixon and little Frankie Darro. A number of short talkie features axe also shown. “Welcome Danger,” Harold Ldo.vd’s first talking picture for Paramount, which has been many months in production, has just reached completion. Previewed recently in Hollywood, it was declared to be the funniest yet made by the bespectacled comedian. “Welcome Danger” will arrive in New Zealand in a few weeks.
