f FIRST MAKO HOOKED The whaling season is in full swing Whangamumu. Yesterday the whalers caught three big whales, which they lighted off Cape Brett.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Faisr. of Hertfordshire. England, who are touring the world, have arrived at the Bay of Islands and will spend three weeks deep-sea fishing.
The dairving season promises to be » record one from all viewpoints. Last week the cream launches in the Bay of Islands were taxed to their utmost in gathering the cream from the many bays and inlets.
Great interest is being evinced in connection with the annual regatta, which will fie held during Christmas week. A strong committee is working hard to ensure a successful function. » <= el
Mr H. C. Parr. England, hooked his first mako yesterday. After beingplayed for over a quarter of an hour it broke away.
