TRANSPORT AMENDMENTS

MOUNT ALBERT WANTS BILL POSTPONED

Consideration of the proposed amendments to the transport regulations should be deferred until the next session of Parliament, is the view of the Mount Albert Borough Council, which last, evening approved of this opinion, forwarded by its joint committee.

Parliamentary representatives for the district are to be asked to try to have consideration of the Bill postponed. Acting on the instructions of the Health Department, reported Mr. S. R. Kingdon, the sanitary inspector, attention is being given to treating stagnant water to decrease the number of mosquitoes. Thirty-five building permits, valued at £23,784 ss, were allowed in the three weeks ended October 31, said Mr. W. Weaver, the building inspector, in his report. Fourteen_ dwellings represented a value of £10,593, and a boot factory, £9,619. A remit from the council to the 1930 conference of the Municipal Association will ask that Crown properties be subject to rates in the ordinary way.
