Obituary

MR. T. COVERDALE The dearth occurred at Auckland on. Alonday of Air. Thomas Coverdale, of Te Kavva, after a protracted illness. He leaves a widow and adult family of three sons. Dr. T. Coverdale, Auckland, and Messrs. Aliles and Geoffrey Coverdale, of Te Awamutu district. Before he took up farming the late Mr. Coverdale was a prominent business man in Christchurch, being a member of the firm of Strange and Company. MR. J. CANNON The death has occurred at Palmerston North of Mr. John Cannon, at the age of 75, who since the early days had been associated with the dairying industry of New Zealand. Born in Norfolk, Air. Cannon learned bis trade of tinsmith in London, and after his marriage came to New riving at Auckland in the ship Triumph in 1882. He went to Palmerston North 26 years ago. Air. Cannon is survived by his wife, one son, Mr. J. G. Cannon, of Auckland. and one daughter, Mrs. Boswell, of Rongotea. MR. H. P. CLARKE A resident of Tauranga district for many years, Mr. Herbert Pasquale Clarke died suddenly at Alount Alaunganui on Monday. After the death of his father. Air. Clarke continued the operation of a large property at Te Wairoa, which is now one of the finest farms in the Bay of Plenty. He was •a keen sportsman and bred many good horses on his property. Air. Clarke is survived by his wife and three sons. Air. C. Clarke, engineer to the Taranaki County Council. H. Clarke, of Te Wairoa, and Harold Clarke, of Hamilton. MRS. E. OCKLESTON The death of Airs. Elizabeth Ockleston. widow of the late Air. Joshua Ockleston, has occurred at Hobsonville. Airs. Ockleston, who was 86 years of age, k as the last of the large family of Biins who arrived in Auckland by the Duchess of Argylc. Bhe leaves three sons, Mr. W. and Air. It. Ockleston, of Hobsotiville, and Air. J. Ockleston, of New Lynn; and 10 grandchildren. Settlers and friends from many parts assembled at the funeral on Alonday. The service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Rimmer, Presbyterian minister, of llobsonville. MR. J. J. EASON Air. John Joseph Eason, who has died at Pokeno at the age of 79, was born in Buningyong, near Ballarat, coming to New Zealand in 1863. In late years he had lived at Pokeno. For 61 years he was a member of the Manchester Unity 1.0.0. F. and before moving to Pokeno was in wool broking business in Dunedin and Wellington. Airs. Eason died 15 years ago. Air. Eason is survived by five sons. Messrs. Charles Eason, Lower Hutt, William Eason, Johnsonville, Arthur Eason, Razorback, Edgar Eason, Feilding, and Leonard Eason, ATanunui, and one daughter, Airs. O. E. Austin, Rctmiera. There are 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
