DICTATOR’S INTENTIONS
DIET SUMMONED FOR TEST PILSUDSKI IMPATIENT Reed. 11.20 a.m. WARSAW, Monday. A test of Marshal Pilsudski’s intentions is likely tomorrow. The Speaker of the Diet telegraphically summoned the members to assemble. It is still uncertain whether Marshal Pilsudski will continue to be obdurate, or will find a way out of the imbroglio, which will enable him to make use of Parliament. The dictator has always hated representative institutions. It may be that his patience is now exhausted, and that he is determined to send the deputies packing. A sensation was caused in the Polish Diet on Friday when 90 officers, carrying swords and revolvers, occupied the lobby just before the sitting was opened. The Speaker, regarding this as a coup d’etat by Marshal Pilsudski, refused to open the session until the Government had induced the officers to retire. When the Sergeant-at-Arms ordered the intruders to leave the soldiers replied: “We have orders to occupy this lobby.”
