“SUSPEND MIGRATION”
FEDERAL CABINET’S REQUEST TO BRITAIN PRESENT UNEMPLOYMENT Reed- 9.5 a.m. CANBERRA, Today. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, announces that the Federal Cabinet intends to suggest to the I&itish Government suspension of the migration clause of the £34,000,000 agreement, owing to the large number of unemployed already in Australia. Under the agreement, Australia undertook to absorb one migrant for every £75 spent from that loan on developmental work in the Commonwealth.
