“AUSTRALIA A FLAPPER”
WANT’S EVERYTHING SHE CAN THINK OF GREAT FUTURE PICTURED Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Monday. "Australia resembles a flapper of 15,” said Mr. Leitch, who, with his wife, gave a reception at Australia House in honour of Archbishop and Mrs. Head. "Hike a flapper, she wants everything she can think of, and wants it immediately. But I believe she will develop into a fine woman.” He added that within two or three centuries Australia would become the centre of the Empire, because she could support a greater population than Britain. Sir George Fuller, Agent-General for New South Wales, endorsed Mr. Leitch's welcome. Archbishop Head, who has been appointed to the See of Melbourne, said that whether Australians liked or disliked him. he believed they would like Mrs. Head. His wife represented 75 per cent, of the joint effect of husband and wife. The Archbishop paid a warm tribute to the hospitality of the Australians at home and also in Britain. He craved indulgence for any unintentional mistakes he might make.
