1 The A.A.A. staff held a most enjoyable dance in the G'rosvenor Cafe, Durham Street, on Saturday evening. Recent cables from America advise | that the Studebaker Motor CorporaI tion has absorbed by amalgamation, I the Pierce-Arrorv Motor Company. Drive over all cross roads with the greatest care; someone may be around the corner thinking he has the right of way. The latest vehicle to ai-rive in Auckland is "The Dover," a commercial-super-six, made by Hudson-Essex. It has a very neat bodywork, especially designed Dover chassis, Essex engine, and is built at the Hudson plant. The g Dover is rated at a three-quarter ton carrier. - When the engine labours on the \ level, as thought it were on a steep ti grade, and especially if it gets hot and | knocks, look at the oil system, as this ii I s a sign of lack of lubrication. As a i 1 rule, when the bearings do not get ' oil they will bind and put a great i load on the engine. j; Why not refurbish the old car? It f always is surprising what a little | paint will do to restore beauty, espec- ! ially the kind of finishes that can be [j applied by the car owner himself. The simple way to discover this fact is to i apply one of the brushing or spray [ lacquers to the wheels. Going a step l farther and giving the top a special k dressing adds that much to the total | good result. i There is a simpler test than that , ordinarily used to determine which > spark plug is missing. Especially is [ it worth trying in £he case of a six t or an eight where the process of J elimination usually requires more , time. The test is to get the engine i thoroughly warm and then shut it j o£ f- Touching the plugs will reveal , the cool one—which is the one that | has- been lying down on the job. A.A.A. SIGNPOSTING After spending- considerable time in the Gisborne district, the signs patrol of the A.A.A. leaves today to carry out sign-posting on the MorrinsviileMatamata and Kaimai Hoads. Following this signs will be erected in the vicinity of the Chateau Tongariro and Tauraarunui, and the route between Cambridge and Morrinsviile and Bruntwood.
