CLAIM AFTER MOTOR CRASH
PASSENGER GETS DAMAGES Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. The hearing: was conducted before Mr. Justice MacGregor and a jury in the Supreme Court today of a case in which Robert Bowes Kirkland, plasterer, of Wellington, claimed £1,167 damages from John Delacourt Merrett, company manager, and Henry Stanley McLucas, salesman, both of Wellington. The claim arose out of a motor accident on the Porirua-Johnsonville road last June, when plaintiff, who was travelling in the defendant McLucas’s car, was injured in a collision in which the defendant Merrett’s car ran into the rear of McLucas’s car. The issues were submitted to the jury, who retired at 5.45 p.m., and returned at 8.55 p.m. Judgment was given for £592 15s with costs in favour of the plaintiff against the defendant Merrett and in favour of the defendant McLucas with costs.
