UNDER POLICEMAN’S EYES

NATIVE BREAKS PROHIBITION ORDER From Our Own Reporter. WHANG AREI, Monday. A young native, William Mackie, offered a novel excuse when brought before the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court this morning, charged with a breach of his prohibition order, made against him at Dargaville on March 9. Mackie said he thought the order was only effective in the Kaipara electorate and consequently he walked past a policeman into an hotel, quite innocently. The magistrate took into consideration the fact that Mackie had already been fined £1 for drunkenness and ordered him to pay a fine of £1 and costs, 10s.
