DINNER FOR V.C’S
GOVERNOR-GENERAL WILL ENTERTAIN . AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Governor-General has invited the seven holders of the Victoria Cross living in New Zealand to dine with him at Government House on Saturday, November 9, on the occasion of the Prince fo Wales’s dinner to the V.C.’s of the Empire. The names of the seven are: —Captain L. W. Andrew, Wellington: Lieutenant R. S. Judson. D.C.M., M.M., New Plymouth; S. Frickleton, Wellington; C. R. G. Bassett, Paeroa; J. G. Grant. Hawera; Sergeant H. J. Laurent. Hawera; Private J. Crichton, Auckland. It is announced that the Government will bear the expenses of transport to Wellington, and the visiting holders will be the guests of the Government at the Royal Oak Hotel during their stay in Welllington. After dining with his Excellency, the V.C.'s will attend the ann.ual reunion of the Wellington Regiment, which is to be held on the same evening.
