NEW PROGRAMME

ST. JAMES THEATRE In the past few weeks Jim Gerald and his company have upheld a longstanding reputation for all that is best in revue, and the new programme which is to be presented at St. James Theatre this evening is stated to be up to standard in every way. The principal feature will be “Qh Mum” and it is said that the audience will scream with laughter at Jim Gerald as a “dame.” If memory serves right the inimitable Jim appeared as a “graceful member of the fair sex” on his last visit to Auckland and the result was one long scream* As a male Jim is a riot, but as a female he is a sensation. Other new numbers will be presented by the members of the company individually and collectively. Booking arrangements and other details are advertised. BAND IN ALBERT PARK TOMORROW A delightful programme of popLilar band music will be presented by the Auckland Artillery Band in the Albert Park tomorrow evening. Such favourite numbers as “Light Cavalry,” “Pique Dame” and “In a Persian Market” will be played, and a collection taken up for the contest fund. ROMANCE OF THE SOUTH SEAS Tropic scenes of wonderful beauty, shark thrills, and other vivid details of life in the tropics, embellish a romantic love story in “The Pagan,” Ramon Novarro’s latest Metro-Goldwvn-Mayer picture, which will be seen shortly. This picture, adapted from the famous novel by John Russell, was directed by W. S. "Van Dyke, who directed “White Shadows in the South Seas.” The cast includes Renee Adoree, Donald Crisp, and Dorothy Janis, and the production was made in its entirety in the islands. The company passed weeks in Tahiti and in the jungles to film this beautiful romance of the South Seas.
