DR. GERALD HARPER A Christchurch, message says that the death is announced from London of Da*. Gerald Harper, aged 81, a brother of Mr. George Harper, of Christchurch. Dr. Harper was the ninth son of the late Bishop Harper, first bishop of Christchurch, and Primate of New Zealand. He had practised in London for nearly 50 years.—P.A. MR. G. C. NICHOLSON Another of the old band of Albertland settlers, Mr. George Crost Nicholson, has died in Auckland at the age of 78. He came to New Zealand in 1862 with his parents, arriving in Auckland on the ship Hanover at the age of 11. The Nicholson family went with a small party of settlers to Mangawai in the cutter Tay, being conveyed _from the East Coast to the West Coast by bullock wagon. Father and son commenced business in the timber industry and Mr. Nicholson in the following years was an authority on timber. He had lived in Auckland in recent years, but the funeral took place at Port Albert yesterday afternoon.
