Saturday Bowling

CARLTON WINS TOURNEY Club and Inter-Club Games EXCELLENT weather conditions and fast greens greeted bowlers on Saturday, when practically all clubs settled down to the new season. Club and inter-club games were played on various city and suburban greens, and the finals of the Carlton Club’s Labour Day tourney were decided.

The tournament was won by a Carltan team, skipped by H. Clarke, The ttrn semi-final games were restricted lo 12 heads, but the full 21 heads were played in the final. The semi-finals resulted as follow: Lamb, Bruce, George, de Launay- (Epsom), 12, v. McKay. Brittain. Jesey, Fookes (Carlton). »>; Bates, Elliott. Turner, H. Clarke (Carlton), 11, v. Yeo, Chambers. Hoy lance, VVakerley (Rocky jjook), 10. Wokerley keenly contested Clarke’s right to enter the final, but the Carlton man established himself in a good position at the eighth head and played safe to win by a single point. The final between Clarke and de Launay was a most interesting contfst, although the Carlton team led throughout. Toward the finish, de Launay fell a little short of form and Jb spite of brilliant work by George, Clarke’s team hold the advantage and jron by 22 to 11.
