PAPATOETOE REVEL

HALLOWE’EN PARTY GHOSTLY SCENES Ghosts, "witches, black cats and “pumpkin men” all combined to create a ghostly atmosphere at the Hallowe’en celebrations, held in the Presbyterian Hall, Great South Road, Papatoetoe, on Thursday evening last. Fortune-tellers were busily engaged round the witches’ lire, forecasting the fates of those brave enough to face the ordeal. The Rev. T. H. Roseveare presided over the gathering, which, in spite of the adverse weather conditions prevailing, numbered close on 100. A humorous elocutionary item was contributed by Mr. Eric Burton. An exhibition of shadow pictures was also greatly enjoyed by those present. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Christmas tree fund of the Busy bees. % -
