KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR

CHILD SERIOUSLY INJURED From Our Oxen Correspondent NGATEA, Today. Serious injuries were received by the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hooper, of Kerepeehi, last Thursday afternoon as the result of being knocked down by a motor-car. The child, Elve Josephine Hooper, aged 5 and 10 months, was returning home by the school bus which stopped a short distance beyond the farm-gate for her to alight. The child ran down the side of the road before crossing and was hit by a big car, owned by an Aucklander and driven by a man from Otahuhu. The accident was witnessed by the child’s mother. The child was unconscious when picked up and had three wounds in her head and severe abrasion to her legs and body. An Auckland service-car took her to Paeroa for medical attention, but it was late on Friday before she regained consciousness.
