QUAY STREET FIGHT

OLD SCHOOL FRIENDS DISAGREE FINES OF £1 IMPOSED Two old school mates, who settled their differences by fighting on Friday evening, appeared at the Police Court this morning. “It seems to have been a fair fight, though one of them is said to have ‘put the boot in,’ ” commented Sub-Inspector McCarthy. Ivan Stevens, a labourer, aged 17. and Eric Owen Dwight, a draper, aged 19, ple-ded guilty to fighting in Quay Street. According to the sub-inspector they had a grievance against each other and went to a section near the wharves to fight it out. “Both have been previously convicted of drunkenness in spite of their youth,” remarked the sub-inspector. Accused were fined £1 each.
