PATETONGA MAIN ROAD

METALLING COMMENCED From Our Own Com'espondent MORRINSVILLE, Friday. The metalling of the lower main road, Patetonga, was commenced recently, when about 50yds of stone from the contractor’s quarry at Maukoro were spread to £orm the bottom course. It is hoped to increase the daily output of the quarry to over 1 00yds daily, and to complete the road as far as Kaihere this season. The quarry has been fitted with modern machinery, including a powerful steam-engine, compressed air-drills and high-pressui'e water for sluicing. The Land Drainage Department’s work of preparing the' road is well advanced.
