FELL UNDER TRAIN
ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH ACCIDENT AT KUMEU Losing his balance as he jumped from a train drawing into Kumeu station about 10.30 last evening, an elderly man, Mr. R. Bradley, of Kumeu, fell under the wheels of the guard's van, receiving in-, juries from which he died shortly afterward. With three other men. Mr. Bradley, had joined the train only a few stations up the line, was standing on the back platform of the last carriage. The train had almost stopped he opened the gate and stepped on to the station platform, with liis back to the direction in which the train was proceeding. Tne momentum was sufficient to make him stagger and fall across the line. The three men realised at once what had happened and released the injured man without delay. He was barely conscious. Dr. Harris, of Kumeu, was called at once, but Mr. Bradley died soon after his arrival. He was identified from papers in his clothing. Mr. Bradley had been living in Kumeu for about a year with his son. Mr. Robert Bradley, blacksmith. The train arrived in Auckland at 12.£0 this morning, nearly two hours late.
