KAHIKA STILL ON BEACH

TERAWHITPS EFFORTS USELESS CARGO TO BE UNLOADED Press Association GISBORNE, Today. About midnight on Saturday night, and again at noon yesterday, the Union Company’s tug Terawhiti made attempts to pull the steamer Kahika oft' the beach, but with no success. With the exception of two lost propeller blades, the steamer appears not to have suffered any considerable damage. She has still 200 tons of produce and general cargo aboard, no attempt having yet been made to remove it. Th vessel is on an even keel, well up on a firm sandy beach. The tug Terawhiti is still standing by.
