PAPATOETOE TELEPHONES
CONTINUOUS SERVICE SOON Mr. .T. Sandford reported at the last meeting of tho Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce that the petition asking for a continuous telephone service for Papatoetoe had been completed, and tho required number of subscribers had been obtained. Tho secretary was authorised to forward the petition to the Telegraph Department and to ask that the continuous service be commenced on December 1. Messrs. T. R. Snivtheman and J. Jackson were appointed as delegates from the Chamber of Commerce to the town board gala day executive committee. It was decided that tho Chamber of Commerce and Welfare League request tho town board to convene a meeting of residents of the district to discuss the location for a new post office, or the advisability of pressing for improvements to the present building. A letter was received from the Manurewa Town Board stating that it would support any proposal to urge the advisability of running workers’ trains nearer to the city. Advice was received that the slot automatic telephone at Hunter’s Corner was in course of erection, and the toll fee would be threepence.
