TWO YOUTHS IN COURT
HOUSE BREAKING CHARGES Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Charged on four counts with breaking, entering and theft, and with being found by night in enclosed premises in Papanui Road, James Mindland Anderson, aged IS, and Maurice Hamilton Gregory, 17, appeared in the Police Court this morning. The police allege that when arrested both accused had their shoes oh*, Anderson had an electric torch and Gregory had an automatic pistol with one live cartridge in it, a sandbag and motor-car tyre lever. They also had pieces of black cloth, which might have been used as masks. Mr. Stacey, for Gregory, said the youth was only 17 years of age and counsel asked that his case be heard in the Children’s Court. The two accused, he said, would be pleading guilty.
The magistrate said he could not decide the point until he had reviewed the circumstances of the case in conference with other magistrates, counsel and the police. The two accused were remanded until October 29. by which date the magistrate will have made a decision on the point raised by Mr. Stacey.
