ALPINE SPORTS CLUB
Seven new members of the Alpine Sports Club visited the West (’oast during the week-end. travelling by a new route. The party left Auckland at 1.10 p.m. and disembarked at Hen- j derson. They crossed the AVaitaki i stream and proceeded through the ! Kauri Park Reserve to Anawhata, j where the night was spent in the hut recently given to the club. An early start was made on Sunday ' morning down the cliff to the Piha j Beach, where several members enjoyed j a swim. The party then proceeded past Lion Rock and lunched at the j old sawmill. In the afternoon they j passed through the Piha Gorge, among ! tho most magnificent of bush scenery i The members have seen on any trip. | Thev followed the Piha stream to its ■ source, walking most of the way. After j ciuitting the stream they emerged on Cutty Grass Road at 5.50 p.m. and then ! made for Henderson station. After ten There members caught the ten ! o’clock bus for town.
