ONEHUNGA ORPHANS

VISITORS ENTERTAINED The official guests of the Onehunga Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening were the executive committee and a strong contingent of members of the Tamaki Club, including the president, Bro. C. J. Lovegrove, and the secretary, Bro. Gilbert Scott. Bros. C. N. Robinson, D. C. Clouston and W. D. Mellor were also present on behalf of the Takapuna Club. The chairman for the evening was Vice-president Bros. Len. Bray, who announced that the 1929 session would close on Saturday, September 28, when the president, Bro. Robert Buchanan, would have charge of the gavel. Bro. Buchanan expressed his gratification with the success of the club’s ladies’ night on September 11, and in thanking the committee for its assistance remarked that the function was undoubtedly the best the club had yet held. The orchestra, under Bro. J. Lighton, played “Rhineland” and “Martial Moments,” and a large audience enjoyed the vocal contributions of Bros. A. Colquhoun, J. McMinn, C. Massee, Peter Black, T. Moffat, J. Calvert, T. Cooper, T. Beswick, and F. Pooley. W. Purcell was the accompanist.
