“THE BLACK WATCH” On the coat of his uniform of the ‘■Black Watch,” in "The Black Watch,” Victor McLaglen’s current starring all-talking production for Fox Films now at the Strand Theatre, he wears five tiny medals, and rightfully wears them, too, for they are reproductions of five medals conferred on him for service in as many wars, McLaglen fought in the Boer War, in India, Bagdad, South Africa, Armenia, England, German East Africa, Turkey and Portuguese East Africa. Ir. "The Black Watch” he wears the kilts of the famous "Black Watch," and later when he is sent to India on a secret mission he disguises himself as a native wrestler. Myrna Loy, acclaimed the most exotic personality on the screen, plays the role of "Yasmani," a political power in India, a she-devil who has crossed wits with many brave men and always come out ahead. “The Black Watch” is the supreme directorial achievement of the man who made "Four Sons," "The Iron Horse” and a score more Fox successes—John Ford. Myrna Eoy heads the supporting cast with a well balanced and most capable support, including David Rollins, Lumsden Hare, Roy D‘ Arcy, Mitchell Eewis, Cyril Chadwick, Walter Long and Francis Ford. This film has received the commendation of the Film Society, who praise both the photography and fine enunciation and voice of the principal actors. The talking and singing features which make up the remainder of the programme include an all-talking comedy. "His First Lesson,” a new Fox Movietone News, a Fox Variety Travelogue, and songs and dances by Randolph's Royal Hawaiians.
