LANGUAGE IN A BUS

WOMAN’S REFERENCE TO COLONIALS Unfortunate remarks that she made about colonials, whi.e travelling in the Avondale bus recently, resulted in the appearance of Phyllis Boyle at the Police Court this morning on a charge of using obscene language. TTR. SNEDDEN pleaded guilty for Boyle and Senior-Sergeant O’Grady described the outburst as “Filthy language, even for a man.” Boyle had made the remarks in a bus and the driver had had to intervene. Mr. Snedden said that it was three years since Boyle’s last appearance. She had disposed of a few drinks that day and was now penitent. A fine of £l. in default three days’ imprisonment, was imposed, with witnesses’ expenses of £1 10s. “Tell her that if she uses such filthy language in a bus again she’ll go up for a month,” remarked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to Mr. Snedden.
