MOUNT WELLINGTON RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB ORGANISES SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION MANY VISITORS ATTEND j The annual social of the Mount j Wellington Rugby League Football j Club was held last evening in the j Public Plall, Otahuhu, and was largely j attended. The social took the form of a con- | cert and dance, and was very success- j ful. Supper was seined in the dining j room, which was decorated by the l women’s committee, Alesdames R. AY. ; Rugg, J. Brown, G. Bentley, E. Pitman, j R. AVhale, AY. Jameson and L. AVilsop. ; Concert items were given by Alor- I | row’s Orchestra, Messrs. P. Evans, J. i Calvert, F. Baker, Rex Yates and I Alisses Doris Alesser and Smithson, to ;an appreciative audience. The music of Alorrovv's Orchestra ! was much enjoyed by the dancers. SOCIAL GATHERING i SEDDON MEMORIAL COLLEGE STUDENTS GREEN AND GOLD DECORATIONS Green and gold, the school colours, decorated the assembly hail of the Seddon Memorial College last evening, when past students held a social party. Aliss A. Clarke, Mr. Dan Flood, and ■ Mi*. Tyle.r-Davies contributed musical items, and there were various competitions and amusing games to while away a jolly time. Air. E. James was president of the committee, and associated with him were Air. McKain, Air. Porteous, Airs. Oliver, and Aliss Roberts. Among those present were:—Miss Hazel Roberts, in a dainty frock of tangerine eharmeuse; Aliss Joan Booth, who wore silver lace over leaf green crepe de chine; Miss AI. Stonex, in shell pink and silver lame; Aliss Inglis, in flame georgette; Aliss Rhodes, who wore hyacinth blue lace mounted on eharmeuse; Aliss Lottie Vickery, whose frock was ivory brocaded satin; Aliss S. Ashby, wore a floral ninon frock, in daffodil tones; Aliss Alorley’s frock was ivory crepe de soie; Miss N. BIRKENHEAD CARNIVAL i WHIST DRIVE FOR BUSINESS QUEEN A very successful whist drive and j dance was held in the R.A.0.8. Hall, j Birkenhead, last evening, in the inter- ■ ests of the Business Queen, Miss Utting. 1 Mrs. Paltridgo was the winner of ! the women’s first prize, Airs. Jull sec- ! ond and Airs. Taylor was awarded the ! prize for the lucky number. Mr. Tot- ! hill won the men’s prize, Mr. Jull was ! second and Air. Salt was winner of the j lucky number. FABIAN SOCIETY j LECTURE ON “UNEMPLOYMENT” • There was a large attendance at the j Fabian Society for the usual weekly j meeting last Saturday, when an excellent lecture was given by Mr. Alartin on “Unemployment.” The speaker j viewed the problem from psychological, | sociological, and historical viewpoints. • Mrs. Victor Macky was in the chair, [and a good debate followed.
